The collection consists of oral histories relating to the personal and political life of Richard B. Russell, from 1971 to the present. The interviewees include members of the Russell family, his staff, other senators and public figures, and many of his friends. The interviews provide insight into Russell's political career as State Representative, Governor, and U.S. Senator and his views on various topics such as civil rights and Vietnam.
